Otis 211 shutdown

Otis 211 shutdown - 03/21/13 02:24 PM

Have a newer Otis 211 5 stop with 1 short floor. Unit is set to park at the lobby floor. At least once a day, it shuts down. There is no shutdown code shown, display shows OK at shutdown code menu. Display scrolls run 187, 365. 3NAV. I know the numbers are just counters and NAV is not available. When I reset, I see the floor number scroll and several upside down exclamation points follow. Then it will take right off again. Without a shutdown code, I'm flying blind. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Go through your door locks.
And check to make sure your traveling cable is ok and not hitting something in the hoistway and grounding out.

It's a start,anyways.

with out looking at the fault codes with a service tool and not having a hard fault its pretty hard to know whats going on. is it nav at the 3rd floor (3nav) every time? is that the short floor? have you looked at the tape guides and magnets at that floor?

I set the elev. to park at the lobby floor 3 yesterday.. Got there this morning, and unit was not responding, sitting at parking floor NAV 3. Yesterday, Went through the hoistway and verified magnet positions, all ok with the gauge.m Do not have a service tool, but have the manuals. Have looked through all of the occs and mccs parameters, shut off low oil, pressure switch and it had a car call set for card reader, which I turned off, no card readers on this unit.....anybody think, that I have a flaky board or software corruption? I have not had any board or software problems with the 211 in the past, I think they are the most reliable units out there.....

The fact that the elevator is always shutting down on the third landing..would lead you to believe that there could be something wrong with your tape reader board or play in your tape guides..if your car is level..and all doorlock and car gates inputs are up on your I/O board..I would check there..without the tool ..you cannot access time frames or sequential faults in your Ocss,Mcss fault logs..

You would get a fault.
Say it was parking at the top level, and it would relevel thus hitting the limit would give you a fault.Door timing out would give you a fault and warming up the oil and drifting up would give you a fault.
Is it set to stay or park at the top level?
If so,that's your problem .

And you know how to get to the faults on the display on the board without a tool, right?

How new?
They have changed the controllers to were if you access the car top and don't follow the car top access procedure,it shut's the unit down with a HAD fault.

The elevator was shutting down on various floors before I set it to park at the lobby. Yes, I know how to access the shutdown codes without the tool, are their faults that can be accessed without the tool as well? The unit is set to park at the lobby which is approx. midway in the hoistway. Any idea why I get NAV without a hard fault? If I press S1 the unit will reset, without going through the entire reset procedure, also cycling power resets the unit.

The older 211LVM..unfortunately has that Diagnostic chip..which makes the troubleshooting a little tougher..software is limited even a problem with a pump thermal opening will shut you down and give this fault..slow process to eliminate things.

you will usually get a flrp when you having a tape reader problem ,when its at floor 3 make sure the leds on the controller are right...your binary 1&2&dz should be on but it could the the traveler since its at the 3rd everytime check the cable..also make sure the poles on the magnets are right line on the magnet facing the rails all floors..
