Otis Pie Plate...... - 04/22/13 11:37 PM

I have an Otis car 10UCLS IIRC that 1st thing in the morning is on the 4th floor and won't come down unless ( according to the maintenance man ) you go up and register a hall call ( up or down ) get in the car give it a car call above the 4th floor. Then it will run all day fine. Haven't made it there in the AM yet before they kickstart it up the hoistway, figured I'd looked at DG,LJ,HJ contacts... any ideas? Not sure yet if the generator fires up until it gets an up demand. Hopefully I can catch it tomorrow AM.

If its the type im thinking of you would have to have the fault on to really test it or temp double up the travel cable on the selector you think mught be faulty.

1U should be up on the main selector, so then check contacts on,

nt,dzr,1u,fh(to level 4) to pick xd (geared umv).

This is similar i think to a vip type gearless selector as well(if this is the type of lift) but then your zone should have a lift at lobby level, as zone 1, then other lifts spread out thru the rest of the levels. Then if a lift is in another zone, with another lift, then the free car relay should activate to send a lift to the empty zone so check this also.

2 Car bank 7 stops. Car 1 parks on 4, not sure about where the other car parks. I've never seen both cars parked, there is so much inter-floor traffic in this building it's not funny. Unless I get there before 7AM or come in during the middle of the night, it's gonna be tuff to find. They literaly never stop.

Greenpants thats the 'ns' relay.

Its seems to me its more likely that the lift on the ground floor is not opening which is why another lift is not coming down. Check the door open cct, 1U etc.

Car 1 is the one one the 4th floor and Car 2 is at the Lobby. Car 2 will answer calls and go anywhere. You can send it away and Car 1 won't come down. If you go up to 4 and register a hall call and get in car 1 and register a car call below 4 it won't go down(so they say). They have to register a car call above, the car will go up then come down. Only thing found so far is that on Car 1, DCL wasn't opening sometimes when the door was fully closed so GH would never drop and DG never dropped either. So far it's been working for 2 days in a row. FWIW the cars don't have the original door operators.

You would have to establish that xd is not coming in and if not it sounds to me e-man that you may have a fh hook contact open. Can you get them to test going up to each floor and test ie by checking the floors on the way up you can isolate which fh contact is actually open. It could also be the bottom selector cam flex that is open cct at that point. Easiest way to test this to clip a short to it and then test it.

All lifts should run as simplex try and shut down lift number 2 and see if lift number 1 responds to bottom hall call 1U. If it does not then I would look at the FH floor bar from level 5,4,3,2,1. When lift two leaves lobby number 1 should be called to lobby as next car up.(SC) selected car.

Bingo Leggy. The only thing I would add is to come in after hours and do the above one car at a time, then start adding cars for group. Virtually impossible to troubleshoot dispatching during the day when the building is fully occupied.

Thanks uppo72,

Good thinking Broke_Sheave after hours would be a good idea to check the dispatching of both lifts, then introduce the other lift for group control operation.

This one ended up being the close limit.
