Epoch 1 Mark 4....don,t loose power.this equipment was notorious for loss of positioning whenever power was lost..I made lots of money chasing calls during storms and blackouts..installing new floor height updates with the HHT...good move ripping this stuff out...

This is an old post so it may just help someones else looking for info.
Be careful cutting out your cars. The Comm boards ( located on each SBC) daisy chain from the B7 cab to each car in it's loop. The car Comm are GO1's except for the last cars in the chain which are G02's. There is an inline resistor network beside the two red jumper plugs. If you have a machine room with multiple com loops you will have more than one.
That end of the chain comm board needs to be moved to the next car
as you take it out. Start with the last car in the chain first.

Thanks Smitty, we are starting the 2nd car now, this is the last car in the chain. the first car to mod was the 2nd to last, we have not had any communication problems that i know of. I have made a note and put it in my epoch file, we are going to mod another 4 car group in the future. the mod we are on now is a 5 car group, the first 4 cars are on one comm loop, and the 5th is by itself, i figured that much out, then i just tucked the comm loop wiring in the gutter, and kept the eq and fire service wires together, and let the mod crew tear the controller out. have not had any problems yet,
maybe strange things are happening there and I'm not being told, i will check it out thanks again smitty.
