Separating water from hydro oil

Can anybody recommend a good filter machine/device for filtering water out of hydraulic oil?

Last year I was in a situation with water in the system. We ended up on just draining the system, fixed the source of the water, and added new oil.

So I'm interested in your question too hopefully someone has a good solution.

In our company we use the Parker filtering system with oil water filter. It's works.

Obviously it's going to depend on how much water you think is in the unit, typically if we suspect there's quite a bit we will drain and replace the oil. After the replacement oil is in the unit we will usually run our filtration cart for a few days with water filters in it to ensure all the water is gone. It all depends on how the water entered the unit and if the pump ran with water in the system. Sometimes a drain and replace is sufficient but if It's under contract and we know the unit ran with water it in, a valve replacement is typically done to cover our end of the deal so we don't get stuck with future valve problems at our expense. It's always a good idea to inspect the valve for pitting and water damage if you have suspicion the unit was operating with water in the oil. Best of luck, and if it's just an open order job I'd say replace the oil and put It back in service after the water source is detected o course.

Look up CIA a chemical agent to remove water from oil or oil from water. I talked with them about making a T-Bag like device to hang in the tank to remove water from the oil. We also use the oil remover for contaminated pits before you pump them out.

In my opinion, don't stuff around just change the oil. The cost of labour/equipment to try to separate the oil from the water isn't worth the time and effort.

Whats happen with the oil in the piston that remains on the bottom, each cycle

We made a device to empty all the oil out of the Jack that works like a champ. Cap off the oil inlet to the jack. One hole in the cap has a hose you lower to the bottom of the jack between the piston and the jack. The other side to a drum. We use a vic plug tapped for a hose fitting. You also put a air chuck on the vick plug. Cap off the jack and hit her with about 4lbs of air pressure and all the oil is forced out the hose. Same idea as a keg of beer only not as tasty.

If weve had a major water intrusion we replace all the oil. If a small amount we use the t-bag method from CIA
