411 security trouble - 06/04/15 04:33 AM

doing a car call card reader install on a 411 job, I have done a couple on 311 and gen2 cars, and have never had any trouble, however this job is giving some strange symptoms. basically a simple job, i enable card reader option under security parameters, i set i/o 326 which is ccrccc input, to address 08-1, which is a unused input on an existing serial io board. looks like the board was originally installed with the installation, and was to be used to lock out the individual floors, 12 floors. none of the inputs have been wired, as they must have opted out of doing this, i only want 2 floors to be unsecured, and the other 10 are locked out if ccrccc input is hi.
i set the 2 unsecured floors lock out inputs to 010. and the other floor lock outs are set to various addresses on the unused board, 08-2, 08-3 etc no wires to the inputs though. the building is going cheap on this, and only wants one card swipe to unlock all of the floors. I'm using the relay contact supplied by security system to correspond to ccrccc input 326. if input is hi, floors locked, if low unlocked.
the problem is as soon as i set ccrccc to the address 8-1, the car lights will light up, but the car will not go to the floor, if i turn it on inspection, the car call light that i pressed remain on. the strange thing is if i go back and set ccrccc 326 to 010 which turns on the input with software, everything works great, the floors are locked out, they will light momentarily if you push it and go back out as they are supposed to. i thought maybe a problem with the existing input board, so i added a rs5 board to the car link and addressed it as 29-1 and the same strange problem happens, locked floor car lights come on, the car will not go to floor, but the lights never turn off, the car also acts funny, it will some times run to the floor when it should not, and not cancel call. any way i found that if i go back and do a pf ram reset, then every thing works as intended. i experimented with it trying to figure it out, so i switched ccrccc back to 08-1 on original input board, and same strange problem, but if i do a pf ram reset, everything works great, any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong, never had this happen on the other 2 jobs i have done

To start with do a duplicate i/o test # 1-2-5-1.
You may have another input addressed the same as 326 which may be causing your problem. I will chec a similar setup on one of my jobs and get back to you today

Thanks rick. I did a duplicste io check on one of the three cars
Came back with some addrsss i coild not find
Not 326 though so i moved on. Maybe ill have to dig into that a bit more
What are your thoughts on line tetminator
The existing io board has 2 more plugs that branch outfron it and are just hanging
There. I used one of thrse plugs to add the rs5
Board i spoke of. Not clear on line terminstion procedures.

Check addresses at I/O 1-12 (car calls) then
check addresses at I/O 161-172
(card reader inputs)
They will need to be different from each
other. You will need to change binary
address of the board used for card
reader inputs to 16 if it's set for 8
because car calls (I/O 1) typically
start at add. 8-2 and card reader inputs
(I/O 161) typ. start at add. 16-1. You need wires
from card reader relays to inputs according
to your wiring diagrams. Set en-crc
parameter in group 7 to a type 7 or 8. This is
the proper way to set up card reader.

line terminators are very important yes and wherever you need one will be shown on your wiring diagram

If your car button I/O board is addressed 8, then make your crc board address 16
or 24. Set 326 to address 16-1 or 24-1. You need to wire the inputs. If you only have one relay and it has more than 1 pole maybe you can use 1 set of contacts for ccrccc and the other contact to input the buttons that are secured. Make any that you don't want secured a 010 as you said you have. This might work too.

Make sure your card reader board is plugged into car link too.

when doing 1-2-5-1 test hit enter, it will show you 2 I/O that are addressed same, if one is output and one is input that's ok, then hit enter again and it will show you another matchup, keep hitting until it says test over. If you find 2 inputs with same address it will be a problem. Is 8-1 being used at I/O 391 also. Is 29-1 possibly being used somewhere else to????

Would it be easier to just use the swipe reader to control the negative side of the car buttons considering your switching all bar a couple on 1 signal? I know it isn't the best way for electronic lifts, but it might be the easy way( although you may find the button lights switch off this way).
