MRL govenor issue - 06/21/15 09:21 PM

During annual testing we had an issue with the governor switch. When governor is tripped the controller latches a fatal fault. There are two ways to reset this, fault reset on the controller or put the car from inspection to automatic back to inspection.
During testing the governor did not reset correctly. Subsequently we discovered a noise from the governor and proceeded make the repair. While on hoistway access we got on top of the car, gained car top inspection and corrected the problem. In doing so we broke the governor switch contact. This rendered trapped on the cartop at the top of the hoistway as we could not cycle to auto.
I understand what the code states about manual reset but its not clear that it must be on the controller. Is anyone else having an issue like this? We have Elevator Control Pixel controls with Hollister equipment. I'm wondering what the manufacturers and MCE maybe doing with this.

Dre did you have to wait for assistance from others? I take it your talking about the governor at the top of the shaft? If you broke it at the time of the repair, then you are still at the same point in the shaft, so did you just move 1 wire to the other terminal to get you going temporarily(shorting out the contact)?

The fault reset controller is the only way to clear the fault. The governor switch contact was not an issue. We have been given a code reference about manual resetting of governors but doesn't speak to controls.

Manual reset includes means such as a finger, hand or cable-actuated lever, cam, etc., or some form of electromechanical actuation from the location of elevator controllers located outside the hoistway or the enclosure as specified in 2.7.6.5. .
