Swift futura...146 fault overload - 11/16/15 09:16 PM

I have a swift Futura that is getting a 146 faultthe car can be reset via inspection and will run for 2 hours or 2 days then will go down again with a 146 fault and overload displayed on the RVU unit.the car is always floor level doors are always open and pi's always have an established direction.I have changed the SPU link, EPU link, cpt board, smic in the toc,all of the modulesame in the toc, have paralleled most of the contacts on the relays and installed a new 1Ma contactor and auxs.....this hashould been an ongoing issue for sometime. car will always reset and run flawless. Seems to happen during the redundancy checks.....Help please.

And all of the yellow and black modules have been changed also in the controller....

Lizard,
What definition do you have for error code 146 ?

Sorry Lizard,
I needed a short intermission. Which drive is on this unit? I ask because GPI input is specific to the drive. It may be your drive is overheating.

Let us know...

146 in the manual says door zone failed on. 2000 code compliance. have you done anything with the landing system?

overload displayed in the service type can be caused by many things besides just the input to OLF from the thermistor on the drive resistors,
i have seen this OVERLOAD displayed, from the gate and door lock bypass input module or switches bad, and a couple other things i can't remember at this time,
basically when i see this OVERLOAD, i start looking at all the inputs and that is how i find one that is not in the correct state which throws the overload shutdown. the ones i have fixed have been stuck on Overload, and not intermittent as yours is.

maybe the 146 door zone stuck on error, is throwing the overload as well, you could always simulate by keeping the dz signal on while the car runs and see if when it stops, it logs 146 and overload. just an idea, seems like you have replaced quite a bit of things, but i don't see anything with the actual door zone sensors on the landing system. good luck

Can you set the RVU to trigger on Fault 146? Then use the play back feature to help (hopefully) isolate the cause, or at least see what occurred prior to the fault. Faulty load weigher maybe?

Drive is a hpv900.both drive fans are running.drive resistor fans are running also.the RVU shows "no information about this fault".the frame capture has been downloaded and sent to cec twice now.travel cable appears to be in good shape no Knicks or contact with anything in the hoistway.only seems to happen when it goes through its redundancy check before take off.

All relays and drive board with k2 relay have also been replaced. This has been going on for almost a year.I'll change something and the car will run a month or two flawlessly then shutdowns start to become more frequent. The car will not stay broke it always goes right back into service and run.

The cpt (selector board) has been changed along with tape guides also.

When your RVU displays "overload", what is going on at the drive?
Which LEDs are lite?
Have you scrolled thru the tool attached to the drive?

So your trouble isn't necessarily a "drive" problem, but quite possibly the CPU-or something else (at least that what I understand so far).

Here's a wild one for you and I actually had this happen to a Swift Futura job I used to service;
I started getting this DPP count error in the up direction only at a certain position in the hoistway, shutting down the car when the undercount occurred more than three consecutive times.
I did everything I could think of to address the issue.
Turns out that two newly installed satellite dishes on the roof were the source of trouble. Dish wiring from the roof ran straight down the building interior wall, through a chase right next to the hoistway and at the trouble spot in the shaft, it was right on the opposite side of the drywall, OPPOSITE THE SELECTOR. What's that called...RF Interference? Once this was proved to be the problem, efforts were made to alter the dish signal proximity to the hoistway and trouble was solved. One of the weirdest things ever.

Drive as to what I can recall has been ready to run. As for the tool no I've never scrolled threw it,what should I be looking for?

not as uncommon as you may think.I had a similar issue with a Miconic vm.the building would add temporary repeaters on their roof once a year for a week for an event. During this week span I alway year after year had some crazy outlandish stuff happen. Cars would run fine one minute and then double and triple entrapments. Those cars just had a mind of there own. I never had any problems with the other bldgs with the same exact equipment right next door. All 3 towers shared a common lobby and outta 9 cars the 3 with the repears gave me the trouble till the end of the week.

Car was down again today with the exact same thing. Drive was in the "ready" state as per led.I did change the ULZ,UFLZ,MLZ,DFLZ AND DLZ sensors in the selector box.fingers crossed but I'm not hopefull. Guess I'll find out how it's working when I get back from vacation, Thank you Brothers for your input it is much appreciated. I'll keep this rolling until the problem is resolved. Now back to my 300 other tractions...smh..work safe.

Still to no avail, it went down again an hour later.....the headache continues....

Re: Swift futura...146 fault overload - 11/19/15 07:03 AM

There is a fault menu on the drive and it does keep a history. Although I am sceptical it's your drive.
Also as vator gator stated the normally closed TH contact is a thermal sensor on the DB resistors. I would like to add there is another item that senses heat that will shut down your elevator. The SPU board has a heat sensitive chip mounted on it.
Are your service calls always come in during peek times of the day? This maybe a bit of a long shot, point a fan at the SPU...

Good luck and please keep us posted.
