Check the jumper configuration on the I motion board. Also the new board will require a communication buffer board.

checked jumpers are the same. whats a buffer board?d Do you think the old board was a problem? The 4pin serial conn. was taped up because a piece of plastic cracked but still looks ok. will replace to eliminate.?

Did you change the parameter to tell the board that it discrete or serial link?
If the part numbers on replacement board are the same no buffer board will be needed. If they are different then it's an upgraded board and you will need it. It a noise filter board basically.

Changed link connector.,then reset through tool on operator. It leveled right in and started communicating. Don't know if it was the conn.or if I was resetting it through the I motion and not the tool that was the problem? Runnin now! Thanks for the help smoke.

Can I get some more information on this? I'm dealing with a similar issue. Had intermittent DCSS connection before it disappeared completely. Connection good through traveller. Replaced iMotion board, no change. Was advised through my tech support (who, like most people in Florida, make up for what they don't know with exaggerated arrogance) to get a new MLB I/O. Did that and then, just because we've all experienced this bad luck, put the new board in and found the redundancy relays were picking and dropping every 20 seconds. Swapped CPUs with the other car and narrowed it down to that... But, while that will fix my redundancy relay issue, I'm not convinced it's gonna fix the communication problem.

I can plug into the door operator and change to multidrop there. But when I plug in from the ring board or MCSS, the tool says "Online to multidrop" and stops there. Can't access anything.

Canada. Did you find the problem or still fighting it? Hopefully you found it!

Some dcss and lwcss comm timeouts and errors are normal on 411,311 and Gem controllers with imotion operators. if not equipped with the buffer board. They don't require the buffer board unless the door board it upgrade to the new board. Trust me you will know right off the bat it needs it. The comm errors will just start counting up and it probably won't open or close the doors

Hey, Magic. It's fixed now. It was a bit of a disaster. Ended up replacing the ring board, which apparently stopped working at the same time as the door operator board.

After that, my dcss timeout faults disappeared but I had a whole new selection of faults because there was a line resistor jumper missing on the new imotion board.

Spent a month talking to tech support only to end up being advised to replace every board he knew the name of and still ended up staring at it until I figured it out on my own. But, on the plus side, I know more about 411s than I'll probably ever need to. Haha.
