Diagnosing and changing a Kone MX20, motor

Diagnosing and changing a Kone MX20, motor - 03/10/17 09:44 AM

at an overseas location, we have 9, two-year old Kone units with MX-20 shaft-mounted motors. One motor is tripping the .5 amp VFD breaker when actuated, and the windings meg to ground at 500v. The Kone contractor says the motor has failed, Kone Co confirms this.

Any experience to confirm the diagnosis? Changing the motor appears to be a major challenge, and the Kone rep has not done one before.
Suggestions? Tnx.

Where is the car in the hoistway? I have changed a couple of them in the past.

They have been a good product but there seems to be a bad batch out there. We've had many installed with no issues but then we changed out about six of the same vintage. They're not bad to do at all.
