TXR5 GCIOB 360 - 01/20/19 06:15 PM

I’ll try to make this short. When the controller powers up all I get is a flashing error light. The GCIO itself and the ASILOG have both been replaced. I’m thinking it’s the software but I want some expert advice on how to proceed. I don’t see anything in the manuals about the error light flashing. I have tried unplugging everything else from the ASILOG and I’m assuming that with 24v to X3-1-2, I should at least get a watchdog if the CPU and software are good. Please let me know if I’m wrong and it needs to see a drive or the LON board. The long card on the edge of the GCIO looks like just generic RAM so is all the software on this removable CONF FLASH chip? Can this chip be ordered from Adams with the GO # or does it have to be loaded with a CADI?

If you have a RED led on your GCIO means that your software is not booting up. Do you have any indication on SMLCD display? If not do a double check on your GCIO slots. IC10,11,24,25. When GCIO is changed, sometimes this ones are replaced in the wrong spot. If your sw is good you supose to see on your SMLCD something like this: SMLCD is connecting, PCT/SCT are ok...If not do the checks on the GCIO. If looks good you need to order the software from ADAMS based on your GO number. If multiple car in the group you need also the system number. Good luck!

SMLCD is lit but blank. It is the newer GCIO with just 1 removable chip. This car has an ASILOG A, our tech support told us that makes it a 400A but the controller says TXR5 and it’s a modded geared machine. Strange thing is if I power it up plugged into an older ASILOG board, I get a watchdog and CPU light and the error light flashing, the SMLCD says Sustem type OK, SW Mismatch. So I’m wondering if I’d get that far if I really had bad software like I originally thought. And all this is just putting 24vdc to X3-1-2 at the shop. Maybe I’m wrong and this thing needs to see the drive or LON or ASIBNA to boot up? Although I got the same thing with everything plugged in but maybe one of them is bad?

Finally got the software from Adams and got this thing running today. From everything I’ve read, having an ASILOG A does make this thing a 400A, despite everything saying TXR5. The CPU should boot up just being plugged into the ASILOGA with 24v and nothing else connected. Just had to set all drive parameters, do a drive end commission, learn trip, set at counterweight and fine tune drive parameters.

The software is on the flash chip. Hold your pants up when you get the bill, couple thousand from Adams. Where did the original go?

Software heaven I guess. I have the chips but the CPU wouldn’t boot with them after a “failed” generator test. I assume one of the 2 chips, FLASH or PLCC32 EEPROM, got corrupted. Luckily this kind of thing doesn’t come out of my pocket but I’m sure it was a lot cheaper than having Schindler fix it as our own tech support suggested.

I always try to download the PCT's & SCT's and keep them saved for a rainy day like this
