Schindler inverter jacks - 05/31/19 12:25 AM
I’ve changed packings on a handful of Schindler telescopic inverter jacks and always used the packing kits from Adams/Schindler. I’ve got one that is leaking after about 2 and half years of changing packings. Does anyone have better luck, or prefer for whatever reason, kits from Gorman or Texacone. I usually go with Gorman on other jacks.

The only packing that work are the ones from the jack manufacture DL Martin. They last twice as long. Adams was sending out Gorman for a while.

They are only as good as the person replacing them...….have had good luck with the Gorman packings and they are reasonably priced.

Only as good as person replacing them? Wow what a comment.
Weve had issues with these regardless of who installed them. Only luck we have seemed to have is when using a Gorman packing.
A theory was the Gorman seems to slightly redesign the seal and omit the flat rubber that sits on top on seal (or bottom because we are upside down)
The idea is this redesign allows oil in make it into the seal ports better and expand the seal properly.

ok so we had this issue before and ended up replacing the jacks. These units are relatively cheap so quality is just as cheap. We swapped both pistons (as advised from Schidler) and it solved that issues. A lot of company's just replace them because packing them is a PITA.

That what we wanted to do. We have 18 of these on an army base. And have repacked multiple ones some more than once.
The customer saw that packing was cheaper than jack and would not go with jack replacement.
They keep paying for repacks and we keep advising new jacks.
