50-04 faults - 06/22/19 11:58 PM

Have a 682,981,1683 faults that shut the car down at same floor 95%of the time.Checked power supplies raised them to 24.4 no help checked lock contact needed better wipe fixed that.Gov encoder looks good an tight could this drive shut down be caused by a door lock or operator issue. Also checked hoistway vane engagement plenty of bite on vanes.Car might run hours to days before shutdown but recently daily.

Car Fault: 682

Fault Description:

Encoder Alarm Fault - The encoder returned an alarm bit, indicating a internal problem which is either with the power supply to the LEDs in the encoder, or a faulty position reading in the encoder.

Possible Causes:

Noise

Internal encoder failure

Possible Solutions:

Verify that the P5 VDC supply at the Absolute Encoder Interface Card (6300RC2) is no greater than +0.05 or less than -0.0 with respect to test point DGND on the 2407MC card

Verify that the P5 VDC supply at the encoder interface card (6300XA1) is no greater than +0.25 or less than -0.05 with respect to G5 terminal on the card

To Reset the Encoder Alarms

Access the Drive CMD Menu

Arrow down to View Alarms

Press Enter to reset the encoder alarms

I doubt it’s door related but it doesn’t hurt to make sure DCL6 is set correctly. Some of these encoder faults can be hard to track down, especially on the 10K drives. First you have to rule out any shielding problems. I forgot to ask if it’s a PM motor. Assuming it is, the drain is in the encoder. So do shield wire lands to interface card at motor, no tail out to ground. Make sure the shield is not landed in the machine room on the RC2 board. If it is landed to the RC2, it can be ok if the Faston terminal is not grounded but best just not to land it in the MR at all. Machine grounding is also important since the encoder drain is through the machine.
