Otis 10 Nicls leveling into the ground floor. - 07/22/19 08:04 PM

I have a vintage 1978 otis 3 stop unit that runs and levels fine on the intermediate and top landing. But when going into the first floor will stop just before activating the level down switch and stop will not level in. Give it a call back to the intermediate or top it will take right back off and level out.

It use even and odd landing switches no selector cable and yes T drops out right before leveling it stops 1/2 inch before the leveling switch makes up.

The decel starts from a short vane. It is a timed decel. The floor vane with door zone at that point has no effect on where car stops. It will relevel to the floor vane. When I adjusted those I figured 3" of slowdown for each 10ft of contract speed. T should drop out when G goes in with a very slight overlap. G is the slow speed motor relay. Check all your contacts on 1LR slimline relay and the GTR Relay. Also make sure 1G relay contacts are good to jump out the Slow Speed Motor Resistors. If it is only at the bottom make sure no one stepped on vanes or direction limit in pit, or something moved them. The slow speed Motor resistors are to smooth the transition from High speed to slow speed, Then 1G pulls in to give you full torque.

BTW the S in the 10 N1CLS Means the controller has Slimline Relays. And the Difference between 10-21-30 is the size of the Motor or Generator switches.

Rolly great info. I always wanted a break down of controller designations for Otis. Is there a master list or did you learn them the hard way. Also this is around the time Otis was using a semi transparent yellowish roller on there limit switches that will turn into a soft guey marshmallow when you get oil on them. Something guys do to make sure they spin and don’t squeek.
