TAC 50-04 - 10/09/19 04:50 PM

Bank of 3, 10 stop, 10K drive, which have been in service 6 years. One elevator is getting a 682 every other day. Did everything in the book, but the encoder itself. I have one available, yet not installed. I watched an adjuster do it once. He said the method he used did not need the ropes off, any one familiar with this method it was 6 years ago.

Thanks in advance.

You only need to do an encoder alignment if it’s a permanent magnet motor, you can also just put a balanced load in it.
Noise is a major cause if encoder faults too. Make sure the shield is only landed on 1 end and cable isn’t running with high voltage. Motor cable and brake coil wiring should both have the shield landed on both ends to keep the noise in. Check all your motor connections too.

Well Dirt, as luck would have it, it's a torin ER6 machine 2:1. Guess it is time to get weight here. Checked all the other stuff already. Luckily for me it"s a house route.

Thanks

This would be an excellent time to tear down, clean & lube the brake pins since you will already have weight and the encoder off. You need a bolt to force off the encoder, do you have an ER6 manual?

Yes, I do have the manual, and Ha-Ha, I have the bolt.
Thanks
