Are they the micro switch type? If so change it. They often "click" but if you check it with a meter there is no continuity across the contacts inside the switch.

Most of the issues (car and hall com issues and lockups) I have had are because of the excess flat satin cable bundled up in the hoistway troughing. Shorten it up and add a new end and problem usually solved.

What series of equipment. Most related problems are from software. Current versions tried to fix problem. I have heard since I left that they are still having problems. It was real bad with the 400A product line.

S3 resets the lon network. If you find the call light on or non-responsive and the microswitch is good, then the node is bad, order a new board. They are susceptible to noise interference from the 120vac in the gutter. You can easily run new shielded cat 5 and problem will disappear. That crappy flat phone cable is junk and most times the ends aren't properly installed. That's just likely your intermittent issue, just a loose connection. And cat 5 tools and ends are available at home depot.

Replaced all cable ends. Still getting same issue. Only get problem when there's a hockey or lacross tournament. Figured they were bashing button. Can that cause problem

Re: schindler hall stations - 05/07/13 12:18 AM

This is not a cable issue, crimping problem, etc.

This is a problem Schindler has been experiencing with all of their LON based hall call boards. Products it is seen on are 321A, 330A, and 400A.

Schindler has had several revisions of board to fix the problem, as well as the 'foil' stickers to be placed on the Echelon chip, and even replacing the standard CAT5 with a more highly shielded type.

Nothing has completely fixed the problem, and some people have suggested it began when Schindler bought the rights to produce the Echelon chip and began making their own, more cost-effective type.

I know of several customers Schindler has that are beyond angry about this.

I'd offer them an upgrade to tamper proof, energy efficient conventional buttons. Stress the LED longevity and cost savings. Easy sell. Give me their info and I'll sell it for you for 20% commission.
