Short Rope Life MRL - 04/24/20 02:24 AM
We are having 3/8” ropes last about 3 years on an MRL. Any thoughts as to how to extend this?

If it is a Kone MRL you should be using Metric Ropes.

Most MRLs use solid core ropes so if they are installed and never oiled they dry out and fail like you describe.

Hollister mrls have a very aggressive sheave groove. Equalization and lubrication is extremely important for rope life.

Steel core ropes have no hemp. Shipped overseas aka salt
And heat n grooving seem to be common
