TAC 32 Issues - 05/11/21 05:32 PM

Hello, want to apologize for the long post but I am trying to include all of the information.

Initially this building took a power hit and we found issues with the CWIL. The P24A pico was blown and saw an obvious burn mark on the U13 chip. We replaced the CWIL.

Upon replacement, it was still showing offline with a DCN. We troubleshot the CAN back to the IOD and found only 15 ohms between CCL and CCH with con3 unplugged. I also had faults of 1920 and 1922. So both the IOD and CPUA were replaced.

With those replaced and software loaded on the CPUA, I now have 120 ohms on my CAN terminals. Unfortunately the problem remains. DCN shows maincop1 offline. On the CWIL, stat b is blinking erratically. On the IOD, both NPBAD and SPBAD LED’s are on. Tried an SPC and it says SP offline. Still have 1920 and 1922 faults.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Have you tried the TECC command to have the system configure the new CWIL? You may have to enter the TECCR command first to have any corrupted configuration of the CN reset.

I have done the TECCR, TECC a lot. I usually do three TECCR before the TECC. It actually says something like complete after TECC.

Is there a CE electronics PI driver board? Unplug it, it fails often. If not, read DC volts from CAN high to ground and CAN low to ground. You should have about 2.5 vdc to high, slightly less to low, & they should both be fluctuating. If you see anything besides that, separate all the CAN nodes on the channel to see where the problem is coming from. The door board and the selector are nodes on the channel too. If it’s a Mod with the HDLM or Smartech II door operator that have the expansion board with UIT plugged in, that’s a CAN node too and I’ve seen it take the CAN channel down. The door will work fine with that disconnected. I’ve seen a power power spike kill every single device on the CAN channel 2.

Unsure on the CE board, will check tomorrow. Thanks for the info!

Don't worry about SP and NP, those will start functioning when you get CWIL online. May have to reconfigure again since you tried that once when CWIL was offline.

BTW your goal for Can resistance is 60 ohms. That is set at factory by one 120 terminating resistor on CPUA, and parallel resistor on CWIL. Those resistors are part of the board and connected by board jumper. All other can resistors should be removed for car side(usually done in the field) most typically door board on hydro.

In my experience, the most common board to loose during power hit is CWIL. Sometimes IOD, and sometimes S24-3, but almost always CWIL.

No CE board. Diving in a little more this morning it seems we have lost the selector as well. I can establish communication to the COP with just the selector unplugged.

With communication to the COP I was able to successfully configure the SP and NP, but the bad LED’s remain on for both. Should I be able to get the SP and NP LED’s to good with the selector unplugged? Would be nice to be able to move the car on inspect to access the car top.

No, you need the selector
