Kone Miprom-HS - 02/18/22 01:58 PM

Hello. I’m working on a Kone miprom-HS with front and rear openings with MAC WG door controller. It uses these small Transmissive optical encoder modules. It seems the front door lost its parameters and is not re learning on its own. The doors open super slow (most times do not open all the way ) and close super slow or close really fast and slam. I see a telco connection on the MAC door operator board but I do not have this service tool. I think there is a procedure to learn the door open limit with out service tool? Does any one have this procedure?? I’m thinking to replace the optical encoder first to see if that solves problem. If not how do these door boards get set up if I have to replace it ? Is service tool necessary. Should I get it straight from MAC or Kone.

before you do anything make sure the tension device at the end of the relating cables is secure and operating properly. If it isn't it will act like your description. At power up the operator runs a self-test. Open the doors 3 or 4 inches. When switch S1 is activated the doors will appear to jump in both directions if all is well. The run-test switch needs to be in the run position to perform this test. So if memory serves, the dipswitches are used to set the door operation. I believe the BK dip-3 has to be down to be in the learn mode. the rest of the dipswitches are used to determine if the doors are center open, side open right hand, left hand etc, those need to be correct. I hope you haven't changed any from the install. Put SW-1 at stop pos. put SW-2 in test pos. apply power, then move SW-2 to close pos. the doors should close slowly and the led ds2 should light up. Then move the switch to open, the doors should open slowly. When the doors get to a a good spot for the open limit put The SW-1 to stop. Then reset the BK dip 3 to the up pos. and hit the reset switch S-1. that should do it if all is well.

Txs JAy. It was super super hard to open the doors fully by hand when they stopped short. I wonder if the tension device is bad. It looks like it’s very hard to get to comfortably

you have to stand on your head to check it as I recall. But moving the doors by hand is inherently hard because the motor has a permanent magnet for a field coil.

What role does this small optical encoder module play ?

The motor encoder is basically a feedback encoder. In the previous post, I told you about checking the tension device and standing on your head to check it. My memory was faulty. What you need to check is the nut on the gearbox drive shaft, if it is loose it causes all kinds of problems, some of them are as you described. And that is where you have to stand on your head to check. Sorry it has been a while and the memorys fade.

The driveshaft goes down through the cable drum, on which the relating cables are wound. if this is loose the drum slips causing errors.
