Thyssen MRL isis - 10/26/22 04:17 PM

Came across an isis and it looks to be in rough shape and I’m at a loss with this thing as only half the print if that is on the job. Never have come across one of these before the entire safe circuit and door circuit are up some of the few pages I have of the prints and it appears that the run circuit comes from the board in the cop does anyone have any experience on these they remind me of a dover, but I’m starting to beat my head on a wall with this thing

If you can afford it, get a mod fast. The Isis was long discontinued. Many of the components are obsolete and very cheap quality. In around 2008, most jurisdictions required the replacement of the Kevlar cables with thin version of conventional wire cables, which grudge (turn red and deposit shards) easily. The controllers often lacked a UIT interface, leaving competitor companies with only one option, IMS laptops. Many of these models came with the machine and drive installed in one of the worst places possible, the pit, which i vulnerable to water intrusion and flooding. Worst that that, they were very noisy.

Due to the compact size of the average ISIS shaft, the only things that will be able to replace it will be the Schindler 3100 or 3300 due to their compact size. A gen2/gen3 underslung may also fit, but not overslung. You might also be able to fit an above ground hydro in, but you might have difficulty finding room to accommodate the pit can.

Good luck finding ISIS parts. The only place you might find any is Vertical Express.

There was an incident in 2008 at a children's Hospital where one of those Kevlar cables frazzled and eventually gave way. The remaining good cables at the same time got tangled in the bad one and jumped the pulley causing the governor to have to take over. This is why they were discontinued and most jurisdictions required existing installs to have their DuPont Kevlar ropes replaced. To learn more, you could google it.

If the problem is just in the door operator itself, there may be hope. The ISIS systems used an ECI 2000 operator. It's successor is the GAL MOVFE-HL. Spare parts should be available from GAL (ECI's successor). If it has been rendered obsolete, GAL will provide you with a 2000-MOVFE upgrade kit which will only require you to change out the controller and possibly the motor/encoder as well. If the issue is in the TKE control system, you might be out of luck.

Also check all wiring to the door/safety circuits (DOL, DCL, DO, DC, NUD, CDL, HDL (including access floors)).
