Could be loose motor leads...@motor jb or remote jb etc. Dragging brakes or unbalanced cwt. Or tight or unlubricated rails. Most likely cause...shavings sucked into motor when top motor to rail connection was drilled in place without covering motor.

Not necessarily the case...multiple drive failures could be due to a number of possible issues...like 1)incoming power issues 2)poor installation 3)maintenance...it can't be nailed on any 1 of these without evidence on the contrary...

Or just that these drives are crap. I'm replacing another one tomorrow, the second one this month. 0103 and a 0026 fault is a sure sign of another one biting the dust. Although I must say the replacement drives are lasting a lot longer but $5300 is too much. And they say their equipment is not proprietory! Kone makes up for losing cars on service by charging outragous prices for parts.

$5300 from Kone Sparees!? That's a steal for those piles of garbage.

Definitely open the drive up and check the connections inside...seen several with just loose connections inside. Also have you tried just having it repaired? http://www.elevatorcircuitboards.com/drives.html

Already checked all connections inside the drive. We gave the customer an option of new or rebuilt, but in my experience the rebuilts don't last as long. I think Kone upped the quality of the new replacement drives. Thanks for the suggestions

Order the larger 25amp version from spares...its well worth the extra cost. G14 at end of part # instead of G13.

Spoken to few KONE testers and technical personnel in South East Asia. KONE V3F16L drive typically have short life span ranging from 1 to 4 years. But the average is less than 2 years. The common error codes are 0026 (Drive Fault) and 0103 (Brake Resistor). Drive Ready LED on MAP panel would not go on.

Once stripped of its housing, by physical inspection, there is no damages. Components & PCB appear to be in good shape.

There were cases where tester began to commission the lift, the drive went K.O. and delayed the lift hand-over to client.

I am suspecting KONE is being unethical in charging drive replacement at exorbitant price. They sell Monospace really cheap but recovers profit from spare parts, where the main income comes from drives replacement.

A lot of monospace customers are pissed off with KONE.

Can anyone identify problem at V3F16L? Is there anything can be done? If there is runtime limiter in the software, then ... there is nothing we could do.

Kindly share your experiences.

If you ever need to replace a v3f16 drive order the new KDL16 drive instead.. Not sure how much more of a cost but much better drive and also you add a resolver with it so no more irratic operation on inspection knowing the magnetic north.

Does anybody know how to fix the v3f16l?
I have errors 0026 and 0103.
Which parts are usually burnt?

replaced V3F16 with KDL16.

It works fine. Noted new one comes with PG instead of tacho.

Has anybody tried replacing KONE controller with another controller? use commercial drives such as Yaskawa?

Any idea?

Met another angry (and rich) customer, who is about to dump KONE monospace lift onto the road and have journalist to make headlines.

Apparently V3F18 also have problems, probably to do with IGBT / main circuit driving board.

On the other hand, KONE testers lacking training have no idea how to troubleshoot and solve the problems. Poor installation aggravates the matter. :-(
