Miprom 21 ultron DDC - 08/15/12 04:47 PM

I have a miprom 21 that has drive related issues. First off i had 2 125 amp semi conductor fuses blown which i replaced and the car would run a few feet then fault out and throw HF, F16, F8, F4, F1. also ZS is high as well as ets and fmx. I have checked and replaced all related 24v mini relays that i think could relate to this problem. I do not have a drive manual but do have a kone tool. Before i pull drive any thoughts.

I've done battle with many Miprom 21's with the Allen Bradley drives, and when they start blowing semi conductor fuses, its never good. You could start throwing drive boards at it and be into Kone Spares for the price of a brand new drive pretty quick. I highly reccomend Access Electronics. They've done 2 miprom 21 drives and a kcm 831 drive for me. Their prices are fair and haven't had a problem with their work.

F16,8,4,1 ac voltage out of tolerence
Fault occurs when incoming ac line voltage deviates by more than +15% or-20% of level specified in parameter 617 "rated ac line" for a period of time greater than parameter 728 "ac line tol dly"

I had some similar problems recently and it took the motor to finally blow before i found the problem. Every thing pointed to the drive so i changed the appropiate boards and it did zilch . I had a old armor machine and the com blew out of the end . Have you gone through the isolation tranfomer yet ? I would routine the iso transformer and check the disconect make sure every thing is tight . The miprom checks the resistance before every run and if it thinks it needs more current it will load the motor with a Crap load of current while running causing similar faults too what your getting .

Ditto Access Electronics. They have the parts and or can test and return your boards. Or send them your whole drive and when you get it back 99% chance it will be right.

is the brake lifting proper? and if there is a brake switch...is it working? I've found several Miproms with brake switch assemblies, but they weren't working at all. before I'd pull the drive, I'd check every accessible nut, bolt, phillips screw fastener (especially those on the SCR's themselves) I could get to. well I see I'm days late to this one...SAY BILL...DID YA GET IT FIXED??? Did you end up pulling the drive? Tell us what you found if it's up and running!

What kind of drive is it Bill? DC, AC, analog, digital, Baldor 914, Allen Bradley?

I mention this because some of the old analog drives would fire all F LED's as well.

Just got drive back from access and now getting f 8, f2 and f1. Does anyone have a manual on these Allen Bradley drives. I've verified all connections, checked brake switch. I left tool at office so I will have to see if controller is throwing faults in the morning. Any help would be appreciated.

Have car on inspect. With the tool you'll have to do a "Re-Initiate Drive" command. Don't have the manual with me. I can look it up tomorrow if no one else posts how to do it.

I guess you are dealing with a A/B 1395 digital drive, but you never said. (This is what I deduced, and I don't know whether it's a Series A or Series B.)

From your description the fault LED's are changing states. Fault 11 escapes me, but if you will look at the drive faults with the sevice tool and it will tell you what to look up.

If you have a Hard Fault, You CANNOT do an initialize or Re-Initialize unti you clear the fault.

Luckily you had the drive repaired at Access, and they offer full waranty. Call Jeff tomorrow and he will walk you through it.

With a rebuilt drive the Motion Adapter board is either a replacement or memory set back to default. I swear the last drive I replaced, it was faulted out on powerup and after re-init drive, it was good to go. I could be wrong and am not arguing. Either way I have a drive manual with me, & like Broke Sheave says, exactly what drive is it?

Check the brushes generally blows those fuses or the main contactor
