Haughton Goldflight 5 Car Group - 01/30/10 04:15 PM

I have a Goldflight job that intermittently causes random cars in the group to reopen its doors after responding to a call. For example: if the car arrives at the floor on a car or hall call it will open its doors normally, then when shutting the doors almost make it full close and then reopen. At the same time it reopens the hall call light energizes for a second, then goes out. It usually reopens 3 times then takes off. This will happen randomly to all the cars in the group on different floors. Has any one seen this before? It must be a group issue because it affects all the cars intermittently.

My Haughton guy said if this is a RJLX dispatch system the first thing to try is to swap the timer display board on the car that handels the hall calls. He said there are other things to try if this doesnt work but to start here.

Do you know if it possible to remove and replace this board or the hall call buffer board on the group car without powering down the group? It doesn't illustrate one way or the other in the book.

You do not have to power down the whole group to swap these boards. Of course you will not have hall calls while you are swapping but It should go pretty fast.

Finally got this one fixed! It ended up being loose SBW common wires in almost every controller. Haughton daisy chains the common wire through all the terminal strip boards in the back of the controller. If there is resistance in the hall call cancellation circuit it will not cancel the hall calls properly.

Its a great design isn't it? all that "angel hair" for wiring, wrapped connections.....
