Local 16 hiring, I need advice

Local 16 hiring, I need advice - 05/31/18 05:52 PM

My work experience isn't that superb. I have only ever worked as a butcher in a grocery store with exceptions of jobs in high school here and there. I'm a young guy in my mid twenties and I feel a huge amount of pressure to ace the EIAT and interview. Like anyone else applying, a lot of my future is riding on this. The course of my life can be radically better if I navigate these next few months very cautiously and intently. I have heard a few conflicting things though, while searching the web. Some people have said that the EIAT requires a 70% score to even be invited to the interview, but once you've achieved that score, the interview is all that counts. Others have said that the interview and EIAT scores are averaged for your ranking, and I have even heard a few people say that the interview score is paired with another tool assessment quiz in order to determine your ranking. Can somebody help me separate fact from fiction here?
What advice might I need to increase my chances of employment? What can I bring to the interview to score higher? I could gather letters of recommendation from previous bosses, would that help? I know I am not unique in both wanting this job badly, and feeling an intense sense of urgency to acing all the steps involved, but please find it in your heart to give me any and all advice.
I am currently studying for the EIAT an hour daily. I have applied and am currently waiting for the end of the application period to receive a test date. I am finding the most difficult part of the study guide to be the water flow rates through various cross sections. Once again, any and all advice would help me tremendously, and I would be grateful.

The best advice is not to stress so much or be nervous. Once you pass the test you can apply for any opening and go right to the interview. Tool test on interview day. Measurement and identifying various tools. Make sure you highlight your experience putting things together or fixing things. Good luck to you.
