1987 Dover Hydro Print - 05/21/13 02:04 AM

Hey Guys! I have been working on Dover on and off for 2 weeks now. There was no print left on site, and the ones we have from previous Dovers don't seem to be matching up. I have been trying to find some data on it but as far as we got its a 1987 Dover Controller. The first couple problems had to do with the entrance detector, which turned out to be wired into a light switch on top of the car. Another time someone pulled the switch and when we threw the switch back in the car ran normally. We found that SE and Da1 were wired with the safety edge. I mainly looking to see if anyone can help me out with a dover print so we could further troubleshoot. Thanks for any help!

Can you give us more details on the controller?
Is there a card rack or is it all relays? Can you post a picture? And Dover was pretty good with labeling inside the controller. There is usually a label with the job number as well as the drawing sheet numbers. Is there a chance it is still there?

The elevator calls cancel by themselves, the car goes to floors without any calls in, and the car reverses sometimes. Say the car was at 3 and your give a call for 2 then the door closes the car starts moving down then suddenly stops and goes back up. Sometimes the door also starts freaking out and opening and closing. Any help would be great guys, this elevator is being a real pain and without any prints or advice its kinda hard to troubleshoot blind.

Just so you know if you don't already TKE has prints for Dover elevators. TKE will only sell the prints to the customer.

World Electronics sells and repairs these boards.

So looking a the card rack it appears the card rack has the follow boards;
Power
Door
Car
Top & Bottom
And an Intermediate board for each floor other than the top & bottom floor.

There are test points but without the proper prints its hard to diagnose. Can you ask your supervisor to speak with the building owner.

Any chance you can ride on the car top and check the hatch door locks are not breaking?

We have taken a ride on the car and checked all door locks and limit switch, they appear to be fine. We have boards from other jobs and were replacing the boards to see if it was a bad one but the elevator keeps acting the same no matter what. We had a owner try to purchase prints from TKE a couple years ago and it took them months to receive them, in your experience do they usual get the prints quick? Also do you know of any standard jump numbers for this type of controller? If we had some sort of jump numbers then we could start testing for possible shorts.

It's a solid state, or solid mistake.

Solid and in one hell of a state.. grin

The boards are all logic base. (Gates, "And, Nand, Nor, OR)
no processor. Dover's answer to Otis B Base. If you get the complete set of prints for this, it will have a logic print as well as the straight line. You troubleshoot the logic print with a logic probe, although most people now-a-days just change out the boards. Reading those Boolean logic diagrams and probing those pins with a logic probe is not a fun thing, plus it takes a hell of a lot of understanding.

You might just want to send the boards to Access and have them repair them. 301-645-1733

Machine room cable related Optical selector? - for whats its worth and if still a problem check the common feed to the selector, loose or broken termination will cause the car to run past all floors, terminal to terminal without stopping.

not seeing a the call cancellation/ stopping circuit

Does anyone have a PDF showing the smoke detector connections for a solid state like this?

Yes,
But, there have been people who have tried to solicit information that are not elevator professionals. I generally look at the previous post to form my opinion that you are indeed a elevator professional. Unfortunately, this is your first post. I am willing to help if you will send me a PM
