Basement Traction Rerope process - 01/11/23 11:39 PM

When marrying and pulling the new cable through, is there some sort of winch set up that can aid in pulling the new cables through? I have a few ideas for mechanical assists but am curious what other guys have come up with, because two guys just pulling by hand is exhausting and just doesn't feel like the safest or most efficient way.

Not sure of a winch or other device. It is not a two man job. A minimum of 3. To save everyone from many trips up and down stairs, and tired limbs you really need four guys

3 guys would be awesome, but then the company can't pocket the 3rd guys wages.

Is this a 1:1 basement or a 2:1 basement?? 1:1 Put car mid-hatch, pick up to shorten ropes and slack cables on machine make a holder for new cable reels outside hoistway door marry one cable on cwt side and pull old cable out while letting tail go in a barrel in the car .. when new cable reaches car, secure both ends (car and cwt) try to not let loose tail go off reel and up the hatch Repeat as necessary,

2:1 little more complicated, you will need a device to hold cables and you need to do this at the top of the hatch. this one is easier with 3 people, the other only needs 2 people
