I’m actually at the Ramada as we speak and I have my interview later at 8:30 am

Unfortunately, the interview didn’t go how I hoped it would, so I guess that’s one less person to worry about. As far as I’m concerned I was a part of that last group of people to interview. Least I know what they’re looking for and what to expect on my next coming interview.

why do you think it didnt go well ? what happned bro? i didnt do to well on the questions either its normal to be a lil nervous

During the interview one of the them(there was 2 btw) looked at their phones half the time and once it concluded that same interviewer gave me back my folder of certifications/awards.
There was so much cringe in the air but honestly I had it all prepared it was just the lack of mental confidence I struggle with.

dude you just got to realiz just be yourself and answer the way you want to answer them, dont make it more than what it is, just be you.

Yeah i realize that now- Hopefully I’ll do better in my next interview in ABQ Local 171 in a couple weeks

I'm number 20. I wonder how often they hire in Reno. In the bay area that would've been a great number

From what rumors I've heard they will have 60 candidates on the list. I'm hopeful that at rank 26 i can be called within 6 months, but its very hard to know as they will be calling guys for projects that are expected to happen sometime in the future. let's hope we all get our chance.

Just called the hall they said there are only 59 candidates on the reno list and to check in the beginning of march to see if the list has moved fellas.

I'm #39. Not a great ranking, but I'll keep you guys posted if I get a call or if I hear any news.

It's just too early to tell right now.

I think when the first batch of candidates are called we'll have a better idea of how many people are hired at a time.

But there are numerous factors that can either speed up, or slow down, the hiring process so I'm trying not to obsess about it, lol.

I hope we all get our chance.

I interviewed in my area a while back and was also ranked in the 30s and was anxious and was hoping for the best. Somebody gave me advice on my thread at it helped me alot so here is my 2 cents. Keep living your life normally. Don't over think it or stress about when they MIGHT call you. because that's all it is, is maybe. So keep setting goals to find a good career, keep looking, keep trying to become a better candidate, and don't let it ruin your life. Every local is different and you know! So hope for the best but plan for the worse and good luck to all

@Rique925 - I currently work in an unrelated field so I do not have much transferable experience and no related certifications. I just like working on interesting problems.

I scored 80.4, so you beat me by a hair! Great job my friend.


@dmart144 - Great advice, thank you! I agree, it's definitely important not to get tunnel vision.

I'm utilizing this waiting period to keep my mind and body sharp, and to gather as much information as possible.

If/when an opportunity arrives, it'll be just the beginning of a very demanding adventure.

Doubt it. During my interview they told me it was mostly Reno Tahoe and some northern Nevada

Just got off the phone with Jim Leonard, they've only hired 1 person so far

damn did he mention how fast the list will be moving? i called two weeks ago and they said one person was hired

Trust me guys, don’t get too anxious about the hiring process. I ranked top 4 for a local in the Midwest back in December of 2016 and haven’t been called yet. Patience, patience, and more patience...

i wonder if they can hire off the reno list for the bay area, that would be sweet.

Its unlikely, as there is people on the bench over here, no new apprentice have been called for 3 weeks

wow that sucks, i wish i made did the recruitment for sf last year than #36/60 for reno lol. im waiting for january i got a welding cert to show now as a boilermaker apprentice, so that should help me out.

Sacramento is considered local 8-SF, all I know is my last update was they hired 5 in early August, I called a couple of weeks ago and it was the same. Here's the locals number 415-285-2900

List is on #7

Pardon my ignorance, I don’t have much experience with union based work. So if Sacramento is in the same jurisdiction as SF...that means it’s kind of luck of the draw right? You get on the SF list and could get dispatched to either?

Exactly, sf list goes from all bay area to sac, Reno list goes from Tahoe to northern nevada

I’m not on the list actually, just trying to get a feel for the workload. I spoke with a Thyssenkrupp guy a few months back on a job I was working in Sacramento and he encouraged me to apply. I do electrical work right now.

Yeah man hopefully, a lot of people are retiring from what I hear.

After they retire, other current mechanics might want to transfer there when spots open. I don't know what the true demand is but that could be a factor.

Yeah man thats true, I'm number 30 so it won't be probably next year for me to get hired and that's if I'm lucky, almost a year now and only 7 people have been hired as apprentices..

FYI if you think the baby boomers are going to retire you're right, they retired in 2007 when the economy tanked. There are 25k IUEC members how many retired last month? 16. How many from Local 8? 1.

List is the same. The Reno list is basically done.

Happy one year anniversary to the Reno list thats moved only 7 spots..

I logged into the ICIMS site this morning and saw that my Past Job submittal for Local 8 Reno that completed last year seems to be gone. I was ranked 26. It now only shows that recent application for the norther California which I'm now waiting for an interview. has this happen to anyone else that is now working to be on both list?
