Probationary period?

I keep hearing conflicting information. Is the probationary period 6 months or 12 months?

12 months, however you get bumped up to first year apprentice rate + benefits after 6 months. A company can lay you off anytime in the first 12 months if you don't display you have the skills or aptitude to become an apprentice.

Hey vatorman, not yet called up yet, however what things can I learn now to put me ahead of the other probationary guys? Thanks in advance.

Also, you must work 100 hours minimum a month.

Learn how to read a tape measure properly and quickly, learn wrench sizes to match bolt sizes like a 1/4-20 which is a 7/16" wrench, learn tap sizes and drill bits required for SAE course thread. This is not all you need to know but it would sure impress me if i said we need to drill and tap for a 1/4-20 bolt and someone brought me all the correct stuff to handle it.
