What causes this and what is the fix? A fellow brother of mine is having a shutdown everyday with a CS lockout and he's new to Composites.

CS - Car Stop relay doesn't drop out so the car will not start. I've heard it called a "CS Lockout". You manually drop CS and all is well.

on a cs lockout the car is always at the floor the doors are closed and won't reopen. Often the cause is the back contact on ds or dt relay not opening and dropping the circut. Can also be caused by the hoistway door lock bouncing when it closes as the car gets ready to leave the floor.

He needs to start by looking at the DS relay circuit. You'll notice in your print, if DS (NC contact 1) does not open, CS will not drop out. In my experience this is the most common cause for CS lock-up. Check out all contacts that pick up DS, CST, SE, SEA, and the DT TIMER. The quick explanation is as follows:

CST is picked up by CS and CC (car call) or HC (hall call)
CST N/O contact picks SE when car is in 2LR (door zone)
SE N/O contact picks SEA
SEA N/O and PA N/O contacts picks DS after DT (door timer) expires.
DS N/C contact opens dropping CS.

By going through all these contacts you should find your intermittent culprit.

Good Luck!

Perfect explanation Admin!!!
The logic on that CS circuit does get a little convulted, as well as it's counterpart the hook circuit on Otis stuff.

Like I said "GREAT explanation".

It Don't mean a thing if it aint got that swing.

Think I have the factory fix for the CS lockup. Drop me an Email and I'll send it back.

Is it possible to get a CS lockup if the car is between floors?

Been awhile. As I recall the car has to be at or near the floor.

It must be in the door zone for this circuit to fail.
