I have 3 cars to do annual safety tests, since i rarely work on these units, i am looking for any insight from the experts. we have a few tests to do
1 buffer test, test the buffer to make sure it comes back up after compression, I know it sounds easy, but should i just run the car on inspect and compress the buffer fully and then see if it returns. any ideas would help.
2 safety test, not sure what to do here, should i just set the safety by hand, not sure what to do here.
3 governor test, it says to test governor again not sure what exactly to do
since i have been a trouble shooter for 25 years, i typically do not do these, this is all new to me.
4 eq test, i think i can figure this out, but any insight would be appreciated

5 normal and final terminal limit test, again, this should be easy but any insight would be appreciated.

thanks guys, it does seem easy, but im sure there are unexpected things that come up during the process and i would like some ideas before i go out and do the tests.

thanks guys

I'm in the same situation as Scott, need to do the safety tests and have never even seen them done on a Kone Monospace. Very odd set-up, if you ask me.Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

just a few jump points and the controller has a overspeed button and a buffer test button. it pretty much does it on its own. if you need the write ups let me know

First of all, don't shut the disconnect off, remove the XM16 connector. Otherwise you may "kill" your hall call boards. Before you start the test, jump connector. xC1in the controller, pins 3-5-7-9". That is the safety string. Sometimes their is a couple extra orange connectors in the controller. I made a jumper, with a couple of them. Look on the upper right side of the board connected to the display. Their is a jumper that is labelled "OSG" test, reset and normal. Move the jumper to test, then push the OSG button and hold it. Move the car down from the controller, their should be a door outside the hoistway at the upper floor, have someone there and get on the telephone with them and watch for the sheave to break traction. There is a micro switch on the door, so that person will have to hold it in during the test. After you break traction, move the jumper back to normal. I have spring buffers on mine and no EQ. But, the sequence is probably similar for those tests. Let me know how it goes. I'll try to help you. I hated these at first, but they aren't that bad to troubleshoot if you have the manual. I have a bit of experience, so hit me up if you have trouble.

Sorry, if anyone read my post, it's connector XC1, NOT XC3 for the safety string, sorry about the typo, glad I read it again. Their are labels on the bottom side of the connectors, which give you a bit of info. Also, connector XH1 pins 3-4 will jump your up and down final, as well as the tension switch on governor counterweight. Hope this gets you on the right track

By the way again. Just a CMA on my part. Set the governor, without the safety string jumped out first to ensure the governor switch is functioning properly. You probably already know this, but I'm covering my Rear end. The above description is merely an explanation of how to break traction and recover. Good luck.

Thanks guys,

I've got it scheduled for Friday, so we'll see how it goes. As far as a manual, I have an owners manual, which is basicaly a parts list, with controller codes and prints, but nothing showing the sequence for testing. I'll let you know how it goes.

You have to disable the ebrake from being held open. There are different ways depending on the type of mx machine you are testing.
