I have been working on a T4 that is intermittently giving me a fault 960.

Fault 960 = NTSD / ETSL failed to report. (Basically. Going off of memory after leaving job.) Pretty much says that my EDET and ECNT failed to activate in a terminal landing.

It only has this issue at that top terminal landing. Quick rundown is that I have swapped PMI board, DSP card and replaced all four modules for that ckt. I have also replaced the read head assembly. Came with all new sensors. My last ditch effort today was to find t-cable spares and swap those. I still got the fault. Anybody have any ideas. Thanks for your help

Those 960 faults are common. Does it shut down the car? Have you ran thru your TSV values? You run it into the terminal landings and there is a command I cant remember off hand that shows you what speed and position your NTS switches open. You want to set your TSV values +10fpm over what they are opening at. I will check my notes tomorrow and post more info.

Thanks for trying and pulling some notes. I have ran the backup scan multiple times and have had no changes. There is another symptom that is intermittent as well. Occasionally i have seen it have a demand for lets say 350 fpm but the car will only travel at 12 fpm. I have cycled power and reseated boards and can get that to go away. I figure that is probably a result of power cylce than anything.

Do a tbs run it from bottom floor to top floor then tbss to save them then wrt. If you check the tables more than once if numbers change then there is a small chip bad on dsp or clc card can't remember off top of head. Peace

I have seen and faught this same scenario. See if your cartop inductor wires are shielded. If they arent then splice a shielded set of wires to the original ones at the inductor and ground the shield in the COP. This completely fixed my problem and its been going for just over a year now with no reoccurence.
Also if you havent changed the modules, try that.
If the unit uses hoistway switches for this funcion then check to make sure the spring plate that reutrns the switch to the normal state isnt cracked causing the actuator to rock back and forth after the cam moves away from it.
These are all things I've found in the past and just recently that can cause this fault.

Thanks for all your guys suggestions. I found that I had a couple of issues going on. The first thing that started was my encoder sensor was bad. Ordered a new one and it was bad out of the box. Finally got good sensor and installed. After putting scope on field wiring from EDET and ECNT, found there was noise on wiring. Swapped wiring for spare shielded cable I had and all has been well!
