Is there anyone out there that has put cardreaders on an Otis 401 with the 9 call button boards and a COP II COP processor board?

I believe the OMT will be needed for this.

i have done it before, it has been awhile, but it was fairly easy, just had to add a general purpose i/o board into one of the slots, i can't remember which one off hand, then wire the card reader relay contacts into the harness that came with the board. that was all, no OMT needed on the job i did. now I'm not sure if all 401 came with secure floor software, but i think it would be fairly standard. i believe the prints have the card reader inputs on them, if they do, then it also gives you the i/o card number and pin number of connector. they have 2 different general purpose i/o boards one hi voltage and one low voltage, not sure which one i used if you need more info, i can try and see if i have any notes like i said the wiring is really easy, the traveling cable had extra shielded twisted pairs which made it nice. i did it on a 20 story building, and the only problem we had was with the card reader itself, the reader had to have some sort of a booster on it because of the distance, that had to be added after the fact.

Just wire the card reader contact to the common of the car call buttons you desire to be locked out. Have done this on 211's no problem, bypasses all the I/O config and buying boards. Works great, but one code will activate all calls wired into reader.if you need different keypad codes for different floors, you need the board.

Doesnt interrupting the common ruin the car calls for phase 2 fire mans service? I had an installer "help" me once by having the card reader installed and wired for me, he also interrupted car common, and I had to redo the whole kit from scratch.

If you wire the Reader into the common, you have to install an ice cube relay in the COP, that will be energized in normal service, then DE-energized when you activate Phase 2 in the car. Just wire the contact so it jumps around the Reader contact.

yes sbrmilitia it can be done without the OMT i have done it a few times, the general purpose i/o card has card reader lockout inputs for that particular slot in the rack. just had to wire HL1 through nclosed contact in security panel,to the input and the car calls are automatically locked out. sure you could wire each button, or common, then have to deal with the fire service issue, but why? when all you have to do is what i say, and the fire service issue is resolved in software. now i have only done it at one job, on 3 different groups, and it worked on them all, the wiring diagrams on the job showed the inputs, and card number/pin number. not sure if all 401 had this software, but this job did, and again. no OMT was needed.

The problem is that we have advanced fixtures -- the button boards have 9 car call buttons per board -- there isn't a common wire for the buttons -- the boards use X1, X2, X3, Y1, Y2 and Y3 for the calls -- The car panel has the COP2 cpu board in the cop panel
