Ok, we are having some issues with our Kone traction elevator...

Every time the fire recall is used, or tested the elevator overshoots the 3rd floor the next time it is run up that high (which is only several times a day as that's the staff only floor)

Kone has been out both times and cant figure it out, runs it in test mode but will not test the fire recall to have us show them that thats what is causing the problem instead their sales manager continues to call us and tell us that the drive is shot and needs to be replaced at 5k. This elevator has only been in service for 1.5 years and the service man on site says that they are only made to last 1.5-2 years....

Also the code that I saw while he was here was just the safety showing that it over shot the floor and shut down, but now they are claiming that it was giving them an error code that meant the drive was bad.... anything we can do to check? or anyone had this problem before and know a solution, or get a hold of higher ups with kone to get this resolved?

So you're saying that the car never overshoots the third floor otherwise. What if you turn the power off and back on again, then run the car to the third floor?

nope only overshoots when the fire recall is used, have power cycled for other issues (stupid door sensors malfunctioning and opening the door over and over and over again) and elevator runs just fine after that

The Drives that are vvvf16L, are not the most durable Drives by any means. However when they go bad the Elevator shuts down completely and does not run until the Drive is changed out. The newer Drives are indeed more robust. It seems like you have a problem unrelated to the Drive. Kone is a well known and reliable Elevator Company. If they are maintaining your unit, and you are not getting the co-operation, and satisfaction you need to address your problem, call the Factory in Moline ILL. and have the operator put you through to a manager. He will get the attention of the Branch Manager in Indiana fairly quickly.

Happened again yesterday, this time the elvator was resting on the 3rd floor with the doors closed like normal, I was on the first floor and pressed the up button and heard the elevator gear up and overshoot the 3rd floor and come to an abrupt loud halt and the doors then opened for safety measures... at a loss 24 hours later still no service man here to reset it for us

it is possible that one of your brakes are out of adjustment, or the elevator is sagging enough on the start to roll back and fault out. you need to access the fault log and see what exactly is causing the problem. without the number of the fault, which incidentally is the numbers that are flashing on the screen on the LCE board in the control panel we can't begin to help.

The drive will go bad in 1 year.
2 things, missing magnet at top floor and
need to perform floor table learn.
Five grand is a good number for new drive, take that deal .
Matt, leave the elevator man alone.
