I have an Otis LRV3 hall pushbutton interface board that goes bad every 3-4 weeks. I have replaced it several times now, does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Thx

There may be a short in the wiring that connects it to the board inside the car station. How much of the hall call/position function do you lose when the board goes bad?

We lose the second floor down button first. Then a week later we lose everything. We have changed the button on that floor, same problem.

Not farmiliar with that specific Otis controller, and this may not be possible, but can you just re-wire it with any spares left in the controller, hall station, etc.? We had a similar problem (MCE) but it sounds like you have a short somewhere in that wire(s). Same thing rac66 said.

Does the lift have a loom that runs down the shaft then the landing button module connects to that for the button panel? Does the loom from the main line down the shaft plug in or hard wired? If it plugs in, swap it for another level and see if the failure follows the change. Or if it is hard wired, replace the button loom with a new temporary loom(before an after button module if required) and disconnect the existing loom and see how that goes. Also check all the insulation around that landing panel, to make sure no shorts are occurring.

Once you replace/repair the Hall Button Interface, unplug the down call on the second floor and use the up call wiring instead for the down button. See if the problem goes away, you'll know the issue is specific to the "2 down" wiring.

If you still have issues after testing, try changing the capacitors in the COP Power Supply. When they start decaying, the voltage reads close but AC ripple is on the DC line and plays hell with those models. They use Caps for a voltage doubler circuit. Have had several issues fixed by changing both of them. The rectifers rarely go bad in the power supply unless a ground or lightening hits but the caps are the weak link there.

...I encountered this problem once before you might want to check the wiring from the plug to the riser.sometimes they get shorted inside the greenfield.replace the plug as well they have a tendency to short internally over time..
