Hello All,
I am a condo owner and member of the board of directors. We were at a point now where we will either need to repair or replace our elevator. I have a picture of the part that is needed. The problem is the elevator will not go the floor when called. We have to do a hard reset (power supply) the elevator. The elevator will then begin to work for a short time. On the top of the elevator, There is a "star wheel" and some type of control box. Those are the parts that need to be replaced. Can someone clue me in as to whether the parts can be found or fabricated.

Thanks,
Brian

The elevator is 40 years old. Our service company states the parts are obsolete and needs to be overhauled with a newer system. Apparently, the selector wheel needs to be replaced. The selector wheel is obsolete apparently! I was wondering if there is anyone who can rebuild the old one and breathe new life into it. I have added a picture in the photo gallery yesterday under Montgomery HY11.

BrianW, You may be able to find contacts for it but I believe they have been discontinued years ago.

Brian,
Glad to see you back. It's been several months since you first posted about your Montgomery Star wheel selector. I'm sorry to report that Montgomery is still out of business, the parts you are looking for are not being manufacture and no elevator manufacturer would want the liability of fabricating these parts.

Your current elevator company is pointing you in the right direction. Every owner of an apartment or condo building is faced with the overwhelming cost of having to replace thier elevator equipment. You as a part of the condo building have a responsibility to the association to be financially responsible to the association. But, You and the association have a greater responsibility for the safety of the owners, residents and anyone who may and will use this elevator...

Make good choices,

JKH
