You need the service tool to arm the governor trip button.

Gov will reset by moving in up direction.

will the original tool from otis for the 211's work on the Gen 2's?

We have that tool but do not have the Gen 2 yet on service.

solid state, there is a tool available from china that will work on the newer gcs controllers. have bought and tested a couple. a little over 200 bucks. i only tested it on a Regen controller, but it did give access to all the menus not sure about the new gen2 but i believe all the newer stuff is GCS. maybe some otis guys can weigh in on this

FYI you can trip the gov and reset without a tool. Look at what the tool does on the print and you can do it with a switch box hooked to the I/O that trips and resets the gov.

no dongle needed the AK3 does not come with a dongle there was another unit on there web site that had a dongle. only bought this unit should work on new gen 2 also, if it is GCS
I know a otis guy that says some of his workers are buying this so they don't have to call otis role for temporary authorization to work on controller. funny otis guys having to buy tools to work on otis equipment, because otis won't give them the tools. thats a good one

Dont shoot the messenger I'm only passing on information!!! The reasoning behind NOT supplying the fully speced tool to ALL mechanics is that "if they did then they would be forced to sell it to anyone that needs it", because they limit it to a need to know basis then they dont have to supply it to everyone!!!.
Oh and if your right about buying the tool...then god help them if they get found out!!!
