Car runs fine on normal Car runs fine on cartop inspect On hoistway access car runs about 2" then stops and logs 2800 absolute overspeed fault Does this 3 times and then u have to reset lmcss board. Any ideas.
either top or bottom access does not matter. up or down does not matter. overspeed parameters all set same as other cars. brake fine. tried it with doors fully closed also. strange as it works fine on cartop inspection.
Are the settings on the low side of what's recommended? Did you try increasing your settings? Any chance you can get a tac on it and test the speed for insp and acc? Did you look in the hidden menu to see if any thing is in there for 2800?
If you place the car 3' above the bottom floor, will it run down? How much (2")?
i worked on this car a few months ago, had a problem with floor count, ended up having to relearn the hoistway. car has ran fine since, then the mechanic tried to access car and this problem arose. i believe i left the car inspection speed at 35 or 50 whatever it said in the paperwork for hoistway learn. had a hard time getting it to learn. had to eventually remove the battery and also short out the pins where battery plugs in,on the mcss board in order to finally get a learn run. its been a while, so maybe i inadvertently changed something i should not have while trying to get car to learn. although the car runs fine on cartop inspect.
I never worked on a 311, but access speed and inspection speed are one and the same on every unit I have ever worked on. Why would they have a parameter that gives you a choice of different speeds for access and inspection? Is it possible that the up or down normal limit is causing the problem. That is the only thing that may be different, You are on a limit when you access. Just a thought.
have not been back yet, maybe tomorrow, however i did some digging thru the parameters and have found that there is one parameter for cartop and controller inspection, VELOCITY INSPECT and one parameter for access VELOCITY ACCESS.
however there is only a absolute overspeed for INS speed, not ACCESS speed. ABS OVERSPEED % INS no abs overspeed % access ? strange have to look at these parameters. this is a fairly new job, so maybe there is a parameter that is not in my old manual.
John Jay you got me wondering about the 2 different speeds, and that is why i started checking the parameters and found it. Im with you, all cars i have worked on, inspection speed was same for cartop and hoistway inspection.. learn something new all the time ha ha. will keep you posted
One more thought before putting this rascal to bed. The A17.1 Code says inspection speed cannot exceed 150fpm. Why would any elevator company have a parameter that has access velocity that can go up to 400fpm? why even have separate access and inspection velocity's? I can only wonder.
i don't believe the parameter is for actual speed, the range was from 0-400 at 100 it looked to run around 50fpm something like that did not take the time to check the actual speed. had to run to next job at about 1000 fpm ha ha
got me wondering now, i wonder how fast 400 really is if it continued to run? does make you wonder if 400 is 150fpm. there was not an absolute overspeed for access speed, only inspection, it was set at 120% so i wonder how fast car would travel if i set cartop inspect speed to 400 and see how fast it is. something to play with next time i have nothing to do. maybe an otis guy knows why is the range on access 0-400, but not able to run without faulting if to hi? must be a way to make it run at the 400 setting, as why would the range be so hi? hopefully someone will enlighten us. thanks again
thanks omms, that makes sense. so 100mm/s would be 19.69 fpm and 400mm/s would be 78.76fpm . still wondering why it faulted out at 400mm/s. trying to figure out how do you get it to access at 400 without faulting, just for curiosity sake. I'm wondering, since the cartop inspection speed was set to 100, and the absolute inspection overspeed was set at 120%, then the access speed still cannot exceed 120% of the cartop speed parameter. so wondering if i set cartop to 400, then i would expect to be able to run access at 400 also. not that I would, but just thinking out loud. also i believe my above math is correct, but if not you guys will let me know
Cartop is set to 500 as the default with access and machine room inspect at 100. I agree with Newmech that your load weigh might not be setup properly.
