I just got a call out a few days ago to a plant we take care of. Unit is like 11 landing AC traction galaxy controller with HPV600 drive. Well come to find out I have a power problem in my drive. Its surging and then coming way down and shutting down the unit on an intermittent basis. so I get the quote to replace the thing and they dont produce the 600 anymore, you have to upgrade to the series 2 900. so we are, and I haven't gotten the drive yet, but they say its wiring is different and Ill have to reload the parameters(no big deal). But question to you guys is, have any of you ever made this specific upgrade yet? If so how different is the wiring. these were not installed by me or my company, and over the years plans and final construction notes have had a tendency to walk off before we took over. If its just different locations of termination then Im sure it wont be too much of a headache. Just wondering if there is anything I should prepare for before I show up there.

The size and mounting is completely different. you need to make sure you have enough room for the new drive. Also, need to drill and tap new mounting holes. In term of wiring, are sightly different. the best is to bring some wire, the old 600 and new 900 manual together with you then you will see the wiring and parameters difference.
Good Luck

I have done a few myself and walked countless mechanics through the upgrade. The easiest way to do it, is to go through the old drive, write down what all the logic inputs, outputs and relay coils are set to. Copy the wiring terminal to terminal (You will have to get both manuals to see the conversion because the terminals are labeled differently) Also be sure to take note of the encoder wiring before removing it from the 600. Re-input your parameters and connect your wires and you should be good to go.

Yeah I did this about a week ago. In the manual for the HPV900 that they send you it has all the wiring conversion charts from 600 to 900 to 900 series 2. took about 3 hours to do it all and reenter everything. Works like a champ.
