We have a new job that keeps going on earthquake but the car doesn't recover to the nearest floor and open doors it just stops. We also will not recover from an open safety string or open door lock in flight. The car has to be power -on- then rest to get back in service. Otherwise the car runs fine till it gets a false earthquake signal. we haven't been loosing safety string or locks but found this condition during the trouble shooting process. Any Thoughts?

I would check for communication and or 30 VDC loss on your serial link. Check connections in controller and COP. These cars don't usually recover from an open lock in flight. Depending on which part of the safety circuit opens, it might also not recover.

Is it tripping the ring and string or the EQ Box?

I know some of the boxes have sensitivity settings and I have had luck playing with those.

If it's the string, tighten that spring and check your clearance, sometimes a little bounce or a little wind will set those off.

As for it not recovering when on earthquake mode, I would check your software settings. I seem to recall SES-02 and a few other options being a problem.

If you can look at the software in a similar car, just make it the same

It looks like it is being caused by a com loss with the hall gongs! and the earthquake fault it just what shows up on the display. More info to follow.

had one intermittently go on earthquake from day one of the mod, could not find the problem, so many hours on that call, anyway ended up moving the earthquake input from the car serial link to the group or hall link, can't remember which now, any way removed car link from eq board, and added it to other link and readdressed it. no more earthquake problems. however it started cancelling calls intermittently if you gave it a lobby and a bottom floor car call, it would just cancel the calls and stop at next floor. problem was in the car serial link, can't remember now, but think it was a bad rsl board or improperly terminated rsl board in the car top emergency circuit. we could watch the HZ of the car serial link drop from i believe 1220 hz to a much lower number, this would cause the problem. keeping an eye on the frequency of the car link eventually led us to the cartop after much more work. the only problem with moving the eq circuit to the other link, was there was no input for eq reset on that link, so if it did go on eq, you would have to put the car link back on the board, readdress the input, and then reset.

Just a quick thought, I have had problems with ac inductance on the serial link which could cause intermittent problems.

Check you data link for ac voltage and compare it with healthy cars.

I've had Gen 2 do all sort of wacky stuff , switching fire service of and on lighting up every button and like you firing the earthquake board . If the issue is with devices on the car link which I believe the EQB is , its worth changing the line terminator behind the COP . Twice I have had that solve intermittent faults . I have also had similar faults when the ring card board was on the way out

Ok top floor gong still unhooked with no failures. Looks like that was the culprit. More info when we install the new board.
