What's up Vatortrader members? My name is LB from Ohio. I may have a chance at joining an apprenticeship but I have a ton of questions. I'd appreciate if anybody would chime in for me! Among some of the questions that I have are; What are the typical work hours for an apprentice and a journeyman tech? Wondering if it's Mon-Fri and if there is ever mandatory overtime. Also, is medical insurance available once accepted into the apprenticeship? Many more questions but those should be enough for now. Thanks for your responses!

There's a ton of info in the apprenticeship advice Austin, Texas thread, you'll get the answers and so much more much faster than waiting for a response here. Good luck!

ElecTech thx for your reply! I will read that section asap. One thing before I go though. I'm currently working in a job with a union (never have before) and I find that while the union is meant to be a good thing for the employees, it makes the job more about covering your butt than it is anything else. Is the elevator trade like that as well? Do you have managers checking up on you to make sure you have done A, B, and C? Checking to see if you have met certain metrics such as efficiency, productivity, etc? Really appreciate any feedback.

Well I'm still waiting to be called but I imagine it varies from company to company and mechanic to mechanic. I work in a union company but I don't get any feeling of needing to cover your butt. I do have efficiency requirements but meeting them isn't really an issue. Maybe pm some of the more experience members you come across after reading that thread and ask because they are good questions bud they might not notice them in this thread.
