Can be caused by a number of things. Usually the door is getting tight when open. Could be the sill out of alignment with the top hangars, You should be able to wiggle the door a little side to side when open. Could be the door gibbs get tight when open. Could also be caused by to much spirator on the hoistway door. Also the operator belts can be to tight. Could be a buildup of gunk on the top door hangar track right where the rollers stop. I have these and other things cause this problem. you need to look it over and determine what is causing the door to want to roll off of the limit, or just barely reach the limit. Good Luck.

This can be a big problem with a Mac operator, especially on mods. There is too much travel for the opening size. You set the operator position based on full close so the linkage is in a straight line but When it reaches full open it hasn’t come close enough to 180 degrees to hold the door open against any about of spirator tension. I have tried cheating the operator over towards the close but then it won’t hold close which is worse. Some things I have thought of but never went through with are adding a spirator to the car door to counter that of the hall, rigging some kind of magnet to hold the door full open, or altering the linkage to give it less overall travel. But a better solution is an MOVFR.

Columbia Elevator makes an adjustable bar that replaces the fixed hole position bar on the operator wheel to correct the issue that Indirtwetrust is talking about. I have installed a few of these on side slide doors and it completely fixes the problem.

Looks like John covered it pretty well If it’s just on one floor check the spirator they definitely are pain sometimes to get that happy medium when adjusting the arms I would leave adjusting arms as last option unless this is just installed

Thanks everyone for the advice. It's an older job I'm just taking over on service. From what I understand the tech that had it before me removed the slotted rod to try and stop it rocking with that on so maybe he just didnt have the slotted bar adjusted right. I will also check the belts and hanger tracks. It's a center open door so twice the amount of rollers than a side opening. Thanks again!

I did not know that that existed. I will be checking it out. I like Mac operators otherwise and the new 105D board it pretty cool. Do they make a kit to get an earlier retraction of the clutch too? I can usually get it to work pretty well with a spring in parallel with some slacked links but just kind of start from scratch every time.
