Hello - I'm new to the forum. I recently purchased building built in 1908 that had an Otis Elevator installed in 1923. I've got all of the model information in the photos below. I'm looking for the wiring diagram that might correspond. It show A 4281 Wiring Diagram code. It is machine 93694 Controller Q-1214 Type 2-SOS Volts 210-230 Phase 3 Wires 3 and Cycles 60. Any information would be greatly appreciated. The elevator was shut down for about 15 years by the previous owners and we are wanting to get it up and going again. This would be a personal use elevator now although back in the day it was for a department store. Thank you!

Have you reached out to reputable elevator companies in your area? And by reputable I don't just mean big brand names. if you are in N America it needs to be inspected by your local AHJ. If it has been out of service for 15 years you probably don't know exactly why.
you need qualified people who know what they are doing to go over it before an inspection.
All that being said, did you try reaching out to Otis for prints? you don't need to say it has been shut down but just that you are a building owner and your contractor asked you to get prints

This looks like an accident waiting to happen.. I would highly highly recommend you get in a local company to have a tech take a look at it. Who knows, they might have a job similar to that, with prints.

You might want to call your state building codes division and find out who your local elevator inspector is and schedule an appointment with him/her (see that political correctness there) to find out the status and history of your elevator conveyance. He/she (there it is again) might be able to advise you on how to get your elevator back up and running. Just a heads up, I love working on old Otis cars and getting them back up and going again. There could be nothing wrong with it or it could take hours and hours to fix it. Company's depending on locations (West Coast) are charging $400 - $600 an hour for 1 licensed elevator mechanic. You are taking a big safety risk for yourself and others if you choose to work on your elevator with personnel other than licenced elevator mechanics. I hope this was helpful. Keep us posted on how it all turns out. Would love to see some more photos of your elevator.

Thank you all and good ideas. Yes, safety is first priority. I'm not working on it myself for sure.
I might see if I can find somebody at Otis to look for a diagram. Not sure which department that will be on the call tree but I'll figure it out I'm sure.
