Hello gentlemen,

I work for a union independent company. I have a problem with a Tac-32 hydro duplex. The building had a power loss. The master car in the group is throwing a 1688 and then shutting down both cars. When I reset them I have no second floor hall calls. Any Ideas?

Sounds like you have a blown pico fuse on the second floor hall board.

All pico fuses on all H/N’s are fine with no faults on any H/N board.

From the master car, type DHNF for front, DHNR for rear. There will be a 1 or a 0 next to each node. If that node has a 0 you probably need to replace it. When you enter the DHNF it may tell you you have a blown fuse at that HN. There is a software glitch where this happens on power up. Says there is a blown fuse but there isn’t. Cycling power doesn’t fix it but pushing the reset button on that node does. Long term fix is replace the HN or update the firmware on all the HNs.

I entered the DHNF command , all nodes read 1 with no faults. Would all of the HN’s need to be replaced? How can I update the firmware?

Have you tried re-teaching the hall nodes? Tecf command?

Yes I have tried re-teaching the nodes. Everything seems fine for a couple hours then the two cars shut down again with a 1688 fault.

Is there a repeater in the controller for the hall riser? There should be for a duplex. Make sure the termination resistance is correct, should have 60 ohms on each side of the repeater with power off. For the riser that’s a 120 ohm resistor at the last HNB and the termination jumper on the repeater on. For the controller side, both CPUs should have all the termination jumpers on and the repeater jumper off. Make sure the 24vdc after the repeater is solid.

So even while the riser is down a DHNF shows all HNs online? While it’s failed measure the voltage on the CAN channel before and after the repeater. From HC1H to ground you should read about 2.5 vdc and slightly less from HC1L to ground. It should also be fluctuating. If those readings are low or high there is a problem.
