Hi all, I am having an issue with a Smartrise C4 traction controller and would like to know if anyone here knows how to fix this issue.
The error message is: “Redun. C EB3” and the car doesn’t move at all
I have attached a picture of the error message.

I don't have very much Smartrise experience yet but I do know they have technical support. I have heard good and bad about their support. Their number is 469-678-8000.

Montana, thanks for the reply,
I called their tech support, but they couldn’t help! They said it is must be the emergency brake issue, but I don’t understand how the emergency brake can cause “redundancy” error? What does it mean? I don see any issues with the emergency brake. It’s just a solenoid which works fine, I also checked the switches and they are good

Hey, i had this redundancy issues before. It’s pretty straight forward. Verify the RDC jumper in the MR Board, make sure its on. If it is then just replace the MR Board. There is a problem with the board I/O monitoring.

M2RE, thanks for the reply. You are right, the board was bad, replaced it with another one and the car started working. this was the 3rd time in the last month that I had to change Smartrise C4 boards. Not happy with that.
There are some small capacitors in series with 120V inputs that break all the time and almost burns the back of the board.
An engineer told me they are not correct parts, and only safety X2 capacitors should be used in series with 120V.

Recently I have had several issues with 120v ac inputs in Smartrise C4 controllers. They keep breaking and damaging the back of the boards. I discussed that with an engineer who mentioned the AC inputs are not even safe and potentially can catch fire because of wrong and unsafe capacitors.
It looks like instead of safety X2 capacitors, very small unsafe capacitors are used.
I compared Smartrise ac input with a Thyssen TAC-50 ac inputs, and looks like the Thyssen controller has much bigger safety capacitors comparing to Smartrise board. Is it only me having this issue with ac inputs or others also have seen that? I have attached a picture of both boards.

We have had the same experience.
Too many issues with Smartrise C4 controller, most of them 120AC signals. There must be a fundamental issue with that controller. We are planning to replace them with MCE or another controller.
