For those looking to mod an older KONE EcoDisc system, here's great news.

Imperial Electric recently released a direct replacement for the EcoDisc machine that will work on almost any generic controller (i.e. MCE, VA Controls, etc). The only downside is that it only supports up to 2500lbs capacity.

The series number is ACPM 540 and 543

Awesome! Hope an MX-20, or MX-10 solution comes out soon!

Me too, I really feel bad for the customers who got bamboozled into owning these disposable money pits.

Anyone on here from California? I'd heard California made all MRLs illegal and are not installing them anymore. But being on the east coast I have no idea if that's true.

I originally mispoke when having originally posted this post. This machine does support higher capacities, but only w/4:1 roping arrangement. They can also be used on completely new jobs as well. Wonder if someone will build Ecospace buster one day.

Here's a link that shows one of these installed. As far as encoders go, it looks like this machine doesn't need the HPV900 AF drive.

As far as I know MRLs are still legal in CA. They just no longer allow control space in the door jambs. Also, some Non-proprietary MRL designs are now outlawed because of more complicated shaft equipment layouts, such as difficult to reach brakes. Most MRLs from the major companies are allowed.

MRL's are booming in Los Angeles. What is illegal is Hydro machines in pits which I'm told they do elsewhere in country (sounds crazy to me).

Hydro installs are actually becoming rare for majors. Most of the time they'll subcontract out to smaller companies who will install a generic hole-less product.
