I am working on a manual Dumbwaiter from Energy Elevator Co. And am trying to figure out the automatic brake mechanism. The Sedgwick's and Matots I have worked on all seem to hold the load no matter what side the torque is applied if CW weight is greater than car weight or vice versa The break will hold the load until 4th is applied to the haul rope. However what's the energy elevator mechanism the brake only holds if the torque is applied at the CW side If the dumbwaiter car is loaded and is heavier than the car will drift downwards. Has anyone ever worked on one of these or documentation on their construction?
