We have to replace a gov on a 6010 the old gov has flyballs, montgomery used a magnetic reader and a toothed wheel to provide feedback to the controller. the old wheel will not fit on the new gov. Looking for an alternative encoder or reader. Spares is no help.

As a last resort, we will get the shaft of the new gov, drilled and tapped and put the old wheel on it.

Have you tried counting the teeth on the wheel and seeing if you can find an encoder with the same PPR? Typical 6010 jobs I've seen had a shaft mounted encoder on the governor but I don't recall the PPR of the encoder.

Agree with your last resort.

The only 6010's I worked on used MFS sw's. A few later ones used what they called the MST selector in conjunction with an encoder driven by the drive sheave. The MST used an encoder with vanes. in the hoistway. This was prob. something they were planning to do before the MiProm 21's came out. Is this the only form of selector? There almost has to be MFS sw's or an encoder also. I wonder if they were using this to make sure they weren't exceeding the 150 fpm on inspection. Let us know the outcome, please.

I believe it is for Inspection overspeed.

It looks like the last resort is going to be the simplest way out. We got a live shaft gov from HW and took the sheave to the machine shop. Just had to fab up mounting brackets on site for the sensor
