Hi Gang

In the next few months I am going to be starting another large mod that has a mix of high speed Turnbull and Otis Gear less machines. (48 cars)

As part of our B44 code we have to provide rope grippers or install a retrofit to the machines to make the main brakes operate independent of each other and stop 125% of rated load separately.

My Question:

-What do Otis use on there 139/131 and 219 machines?
-Do they install rope grippers like the rest of us or is there some kind of retrofit available to these machines?

I am sure if there was something available on the market you gang would know about it!

Regards

Dave

Hollister Whitney Rope Grippers mounted in the secondary level if you have room or in the overhead. You usually have to build a platform to mount them on.

Nothing to prove anymore, done it all.

We have the same problem with Otis 138HT machines on a 2 to 1 mod job we are doing now. Due the the fan of the cables the idea of mounting the rope grippers in the secondary didn't work. We had to jack the machine up off of the bed plate and mount the HW rope grippers in the machine room. We have done two of them so far and it works well although it is somewhat labor intensive.
