I'm assuming that since you are saying Montgomery-Kone that is a Miprom 21. The Allen Bradley drive in those controllers is excellent. I would advise replacing it with the same in order to save a lot of wiring changes, software changes, and headaches when it doesn't work. Fix the original problem and get the drive repaired to keep cost low.

Was it M/K that changed the other drive? You really need to get prints for the job before even entertaining a drive change out.

The older analog drives can be replaced with another. (And those drives are obsolete...1387 DC or 914 AC). You can still get them repaired.

The digital drives are another story. They "Talk" with the control and are not discreetly operated.

It Don't mean a thing if it aint got that swing.

Get the customer to contact the independent company that changed the #1 car out and get the wiring changes and the drive parameters. Or, get the drive parameters off the #1 car and trace out the wiring changes. Or, contract with the independent to change out #2 and add your percentage and satisfy the customer.

Magnetek HPV900 uses either discrete inputs or an analog signal + or - 10Vdc to control speed. I'm sure that magnetek engineering will assist you in setting the drive parameters. You will have to add an encoder if you don't already have one. It would replace the tach.
