The exam is really soon! Where do you live? Im assuming up in the northeast. Year two is the one you want to focus on-Ohms Law-all your formulas. Dont leave out year three though smile

question for you e311. is your training during your apprenticeship basically a mixture of lift mechanics/electricians course or only specific for the lift industry. over here we are trained as electricians('a' grade so we are licensed to do normal electrical work) first then it used to be lift mechanics course second(with a lift course in your 4th year). unfortunately this lift course requirement has been scrapped and is left to the company to train you.

Every year "Semester" has a certain focus. It is mostly taught on the basis of the industry.

You may want to go to the book store page of elevator-world.com. The NAEC offers an educational program that many NEIEP graduates have enrolled in and completed.

Knowledge is the best tool in anyone's tool box...

Also B I have a few more pictures I will send you.

the neiep course seems very much geared to the complete lift installation right down to scaffold training. we are demarcated here so the fitters do the mechanical stuff while the sparkies do the electrical work hence why we dont get fitting training.it is probably a better overall training system there but from the electrical standpoint we are trained to be electricians first and foremost and that means we can work as standard sparkies if we wish which is good.

jkh how did you go with the w'house lift?

I passed my mechanics exam last year with a 91. I studied on the neiep website and went through all the units and Retook all the exams. On the test there was abundance of Ohms law questions, they added alot of extra info and numbers to throw you off. There was 10 construction print questions and 10 cicruit tracing questions that come from the print. We were allowed to bring a calculator and they gave us the cicle diagram from the front of the uglies book. Best way too study is to log in on the NEIEP website and go back thru everything. Besides the math part of year two, alot of questions came from year 1 and Year 3. There was questions about bi parting freight doors and escalators. There was no LU/LA questions. Good Luck
