We are working on a modernization in an old factory. The counterweight stack are old cast sash weights that act as guides hanging on two 1" rods. I believe that code does not allow this anymore but I'm have been unable to find the reference. Anyone run across this or know of this?

A17.1-2013-8.7.2.22.2, states that, Rod type Counterweights may be retained providing they comply with, 2.21.2.1 and 2.21.2.3 and have cotter keys and lock nuts. There are a few more provisions. I suggest you check them all.
